i Numeri

The numbers are the basics to go and buy anything from a shop the answer to the question Quanto? How much? Quanti? How many?. Think of it as a question about quantity. You might answer un chilo è un quarto per favore One kilo and a fourth please.

Note that like in English you can come sixth in a race and you can buy a sixth of something. Where as in English we don't usually ask for a second or a forth of something but rather a half or a quarter, Italian only has a special fraction word for a half, namely mezzo, which also means middle.
